About Performance Teams

MAD Athletics offer young athletes opportunity to compete at USA Basketball Championship Premier Tournament in Indiana. Our teams will also have the opportunity to participate in select youth exhibition tournaments like the Jr. NBA, AAU, and other elite tournaments in the Midwest.

NB: We are building our roster on first-come, first-served basis as the team roster capacity permits.

Upcoming Tournament

U.S. Open Basketball Championships: The U.S. Open Basketball Championships return July 13-17, 2022, hosted by the National Governing Body.

Jr. NBA Global Championships: The 2022 Jr. NBA Global Championship U.S. Midwest Regional has been canceled for 2022, due to pandemic concerns and global travel restrictions.

Team Practice

Team practice starts:

TUESDAY - MS North @6:30 PM

SATURDAY & SUNDAY @10:00 AM

Macomb Recreation Center

Practices are mandatory.

Athlete Roster Eligibility

9th Grade - Grade exception: Athletes must be enrolled in 9th grade or below (as of October 1, 2021). Athlete cannot turn 16 years old prior to September 1, 2022.

8th Grade - Grade exception: Athletes must be enrolled in 8th grade or below (as of October 1, 2021). Athlete cannot turn 15 years old prior to September 1, 2022.

13U - Athletes cannot turn 14 prior to September 1, 2022 (this is an age division, grade exceptions are not permitted).

Tournament Rules: The U.S. Open Basketball Championships is played by FIBA 5x5 rules, with appropriate modifications.

Tournament Standards:

1. All coaches/bench personnel must hold a valid USA Basketball coach license prior to competition.

2. All coaches/bench personnel must abide by the USA Basketball/Jr. NBA coaches code of conduct and SafeSport policies.

3. All athletes must be verified as eligible by age and/or grade player segmentation criteria for the team's division of competition.

4. Team rosters may not exceed 15 (U.S. Open) and 12 (Jr. NBA) personnel in total, including coaches. The roster must include at minimum 1 licensed coach.

5. Team must be ready to play at any time. All interested athletes must complete the Sign-up Form.

Parents Important Information

MAD PERFORMANCE TEAM HAS BEEN REGISTER FOR THE 2022 U.S. OPEN BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS. TO BE PLACED ON THE TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE, TEAM ROSTER VERIFICATION MUST BE COMPLETE BY THE MAY 16, 2022, DEADLINE.

All players must hold player account on National Sports ID (headshot photo, age verification documentation, school grade verification documentation) and receive eligibility verification.
Players and coaches/bench personnel must ALL be listed on MAD Athletics National Sports ID Roster and ALL sign the tournament waiver.
